WPlus9 4th Birthday: Step It Up - Take 2

It's WPlus9's 4th Birthday and to celebrate, they are doing a challenge each Monday all month long!  Feel free to join in the festivities on their blog.

This week, the challenge is to create a project that adds dimension with layers.  I felt like doing a white and gold card today, pulled out a few dies and went to town.  I heat embossed portions and some entire pieces in gold, and spritzed the main panel with gold as well.  I was going for a modern/elegant vibe, and am in love with the sentiments found in the Fresh Cut Wreaths stamp set.

Happy Birthday, WPlus9!  So glad I found you!  :)

WPlus9 4th Birthday: Step It Up

It's WPlus9's 4th Birthday and to celebrate, they are doing a challenge each Monday all month long!  You can join in the festivities on their blog.

This week, the challenge is to create a project that adds dimension with layers.

I really liked this card by Heather Campbell and wanted to CASE it.  I stamped my own patterned paper using Lacey Layers, topped with a sentiment from Blanket Stitched Blooms.  I backed the panel with some scalloped borders using the (appropriately named) Scalloped Border die.  ;)  Lastly, I finished things off with a wrap of twine tied in a bow.

I even took some extra time to decorate the inside of the card:

And (*gasp*) even a coordinating envelope:

Happy Birthday, WPlus9!!

Thanks ever so much for stopping by!

PTI 7th Anniversary: Timed Challenge

Today I am playing along with the festivities for Papertrey Ink's 7th Anniversary.  Nichole challenged us to select 7 products to use for a project within 7 mins. and then create our project within 17 mins.  I'd never done a timed challenge before, but thought this one would be doable.

I knew the design would have to be fairly simple in order for my slow-poke crafty behind to get it completed in 17 mins.  So, right away I knew that I wanted to case a set of notecards I nearly bought from the Target dollar spot.  I knew I could make some myself for cheaper than $1 - how's that for thrifty?  haha!

I chose these 7 products for my card:  Watercolor Wonder & Live Love Life stamp sets, New Leaf & Limeade Ice inks, Stampers Select White card stock, Versamark ink and white embossing powder.

Selecting my products was pretty quick at less than 4 minutes … most of the time in finding the right sentiment to use.

I used both green inks to stamp the brush stroke image, then used my embossing buddy before stamping the sentiment with Versamark ink and embossing in white.  Most of the time was taken with removing the stray specks of white embossing powder.  My time:

That was quick!  So, while my supplies were already out, I decided to go ahead and make a couple more cards in other colors to make a set.

My time for all 3 cards:

I would have had it done in less than 17 mins., but I forgot about the timer and put away my embossing powder before I remembered to put a stop to it!  Ah, yeah.  I did mention that I'd never done a timed challenge before, right?  At any rate, I managed to get the first card done in less than 17 mins. and that's all that matters for this challenge, so it's all good!  :)

WPlus Monday Mood Board #26

Hello!  I'm playing along with the Monday Mood Board #26 challenge over at WPlus9 this week.  If you haven't checked out the other swoon-worthy entries, you can do so here.

I love the shabby, yet trendy feel of this inspiration photo.  I wish I had the time to sit and create another half dozen cards from the ideas I have swimming around in my head!  So pretty!  And check out that gorgeous hello!  Oh, I do hope that's one of Dawn's peeks of a new stamp product to
come!

I drew my inspiration for this card from the doily, pink roses, scripty font, woodgrain, soft misting, and gold embossing.  I added some loose pink and gold threads to bring in the feeling from the strand of pearls and the lace.

I used Dawn's awesome faux watercolor technique on the flower and leaves, and added a few dabs of soft pink nail polish (my cheap version of enamel dots *wink*) to finish things off.

Thanks ever so much for stopping by!
