PTI June Blog Hop & MIM #72 - Take 2

This month's PTI Blog Hop challenge is to gleam inspiration from the above photo and use it to create a project!  I simply swoon over this color combination.  Isn't it just lovely?

My card also fits the PTI Make It Monday challenge, which is to make a project with a handmade embellishment.  If you would like to check out the challenge for yourself, you can do that here.

This card started with the gray wood stamped panel.  Then I wanted to use a yellow butterfly to resemble the yellow ruffle pillow.  I worked for a really long time trying to make it work.  It just wasn't.  So, the card made a major transformation.  I decided to use a rejected stamped panel from my first June Blog Hop card and die cut a wine bottle tag out of it.  I punched out circles and then backed the tag with a piece of yellow card stock so that the yellow would show through.  I created my stacked butterfly ala Dawn McVey.  Love how she does that!

Aside from the hole punch, A*Muse Ink, and some Copics, all supplies are by PTI.

Thanks ever so much for stopping by!

  1. Very nice! I love how you added the yellow dots and gray to the background. I struggled with this challenge too and started and restarted a few times!

  2. Love how you punched holes in the tag and backed it with the yellow cardstock. And the butterflies are so pretty! What a lovely card!!!

  3. great card - it always amazes me that what is created after "something doesn't work" is so perfect!

  4. Beautiful take on the inspiration photo!

  5. Beautiful your layered butterflies.

  6. Great card with lots of creative touches~ love the butterflies, punched holes, wood grained background and layers!!
