PTI Make It Monday #72 & CAS-ual Fridays CFC58

Make It Monday #72:  Step It Up - Embellishments

In this week's Make It Monday, Dawn shows us how to step up our embellishments for a variety of different looks.  If you would like to check it out for yourself, you can find all the info here.

CAS-ual Fridays CFC58:  Pretty In Pink

This is my first week to participate in the CAS-ual Fridays challenge and this is the second card that I've made to enter.  Who doesn't love pink, right?  If you would like to check out the challenge for yourself, you can find all the info here.

While browsing the internet last week, I spotted some paper bows and decided I'd like to give it a try.  A big pink bow made me think of little girls, so I went with a baby sentiment.  I don't know of any baby girls on the way, but hopefully I'll be able to put the card to good use sometime soon.  :)

I just love that bow!  If you would like to see the bow-making tutorial that I used, you can find it here.  I didn't use this one, but this site also includes a printable.

The paper is DCWV and the rest of the supplies are from PTI.

PTI June Blog Hop & MIM #72 - Take 2

This month's PTI Blog Hop challenge is to gleam inspiration from the above photo and use it to create a project!  I simply swoon over this color combination.  Isn't it just lovely?

My card also fits the PTI Make It Monday challenge, which is to make a project with a handmade embellishment.  If you would like to check out the challenge for yourself, you can do that here.

This card started with the gray wood stamped panel.  Then I wanted to use a yellow butterfly to resemble the yellow ruffle pillow.  I worked for a really long time trying to make it work.  It just wasn't.  So, the card made a major transformation.  I decided to use a rejected stamped panel from my first June Blog Hop card and die cut a wine bottle tag out of it.  I punched out circles and then backed the tag with a piece of yellow card stock so that the yellow would show through.  I created my stacked butterfly ala Dawn McVey.  Love how she does that!

Aside from the hole punch, A*Muse Ink, and some Copics, all supplies are by PTI.

PTI June Blog Hop & MIM #72

This month's PTI Blog Hop challenge is to gleam inspiration from the above
photo and use it to create a project!  I simply swoon over this color combination.
Isn't it just lovely?

My card also fits the PTI Make It Monday challenge, which is to include a
handmade embellishment.  If you would like to check out the challenge
for yourself, you can do that here.

The background for this card was inspired by the brick-ish looking gray fabric
in the inspiration photo.  I was racking my brain as to how I could replicate the
look.  As I was drifting off to sleep one night, it hit me - the tab stamps (from the
Back Pocket set) that PTI forum member, Sandy, so generously gifted to me!
I stamped them in Versamark Dazzle Champagne ink and I think it turned out
just lovely.  Thanks, Sandy!!!

For my flower, I used a die made by MFT and tried to replicate the look of the
pillow in the photo.  I added some die cut leaves to add that pop of yellow.  I
double-stitched around the panel (don't look too close or you'll see the
stitching mishap one of the leaves was put through :)  I was going to cut off
the extending leaf stem, but decided to keep it around for awhile.

At this point, I thought the card needed a little something more.  I didn't know
what, but I thought it just didn't look "finished".  So, I tried to place some tissue
paper over my flower and got out some mists.  I used a yellow glimmer mist
and a green Mr Huey's.  I didn't have any aqua mist to match, so I used my
Copic markers to color some pearls and bling.  I accidentally maimed
another leaf - this time with the mist.  haha!  I'd like to try misting again
sometime, but hopefully before I have my focal point permanently adhered.  :)

So, what do you think?  Better with the splatter or without?  Keep the tail or
chop it off?  :)

PTI June Blog Hop

This month's PTI Blog Hop challenge is to gleam inspiration from the above photo and use it to create a project!  I simply swoon over this color combination.  Isn't it just lovely?

This card was inspired by the largest pillow in the inspiration photo.  I started by creating a panel of Aqua Mist card stock, stamped with New Leaf ink.  I did a partial die cut as well as punch some holes in the panel so that when I mounted it to a Lemon Tart card base, that pretty yellow would show through.

Aside from the hole punch and some Copics, all supplies are by PTI.

Make It Monday #71: Bordered Sentiments

In this week's Make It Monday, Betsy shows us a quick and easy masking technique that will make our sentiments shine! If you would like to check it out for yourself, you can find all the info here.

It's been a while since I participated in a MIM Challenge and this one was a lot of fun!  It's hard to see in the photo, but I used a scoreboard to create my sentiment border.

I'm in the process of making up a fun container of crafty goodness to gift to one of my favorite crafty friends and her sweet sister.  This week's technique was a perfect one to use to make them a card!
