PTI Make It Monday #57: Colored Kissing - Take 4

My 9 year old wanted to get involved in this week's challenge, so I helped her a little bit to create a fun birthday bag tag. The idea is to use it for the "card" on a birthday party gift bag, so her recipient can have a little fun finding out who her present is from.

For the tag, we die cut one of the zipper dies and then cut a 2.75" x 4" piece of card stock (for the back). Stamped both pieces with the Background Basics Gingham stamp set so that both the front and back of the tag would look pretty. We die cut one of the Beautiful Butterfly dies, stamped it with Spring Rain ink, then my daughter chose to "kiss" the butterfly stamp with one of the Giga Guideline medallions with Enchanted Evening ink. She covered the "kissed" part with stickles to give the butterfly a little sparkle too.

Inside the zipper we've included a hand-written message to let the gift recipient know who the present is from. Isn't that fun? Here's a photo of the parts before we assembled them.

We used just the lines of the 25cent border stamp from Button Boutique to help draw emphasis to the PULL HERE message as well as to her name on the inside.

I was totally inspired by this card made by Danielle Flanders:

I knew the minute I saw it that I wanted to make some paper just like it for this week's challenge! I made one card in a black print on vintage cream card stock using the Background Basics Newsprint stamp set. I was so very inspired that I wanted to create a second card! This card uses dark chocolate print on vintage cream card stock using the Background Basics Text Style stamp set. For this card, I stamped the largest of the Polka Dot Basics dots in Fine Linen ink and then "Kissed" the polka dot stamp using the script text style stamp. I trimmed a little bit off of my Doily Details die cut this time around as well.

I made the rolled flowers using a Die-Namics die. For the smaller sized flowers, I found I could simply paper punch a smaller sized circle and place that on top of my die, resulting in a smaller, but still very rollable spiral.

I thought about cutting some smaller spirals out by hand, but history proves I don't do so well with that, so I was very pleased to find I could just use the same die for all my flowers.

I placed a circle of scrap fabric on top of the Doily. I made my own stick pin by gluing a couple of pearls onto a ball pin that I had in my sewing supplies. I love the look of stick pins, but can't seem to bring myself to pay the premium for the good ones. :)

I used my Background Basics Newsprint stamp to "kiss" my largest Polka Dot Basics stamp to make my background. I really love how it turned out and plan to use this technique more in the (near) future!

I decided to finally break out my new-to-me friendship jar set for this challenge. I stamped the jar filler in Spring Rain ink and then "kissed" the filler stamp again with my Polka Dot Basics stamp, sporting Enchanted Evening ink. I'm really not sure what exactly I was expecting to get, but the pattern does remind me of marbles (which is fitting for a jar, I suppose).

I do so enjoy coloring with Copics, but me thinks I would benefit from taking a class! :)

PTI Make It Monday #56: Die Cutting Partial Images

I found this challenge to be a bit of a ... well, a challenge. I racked by brain and sifted through my dies before finally ditching the idea and beginning to make a card inspired by a photo I saw on Betsy Veldman's blog. Betsy found it on pinterest, and I found it calling me to make a card.

It's it just so yummy?

After starting to design my card, I found I was able to incorporate this week's challenge after all!

PTI Make It Monday #55: Creating Large Frames With Smaller Frame Stamps - Take 4

While working with my DDs on their MIM card submissions, I went ahead and started another card myself. Of course, I ended up having to wait until after they went to bed to finish mine. :) Here it is:

While I was stamping my floral card front, I was stamping off on what I thought was a scrap piece of paper ... it was actually my card back. Whoops! My 9 yr-old DD couldn't stop laughing. You'd have thought she was watching the 3 Stooges of the crafting world or something. It was fun to hear her laugh so hard!
